Well, 2020 has been anything but normal, right?
As we navigate this very different world right now, we continue to work on projects and products that we hope to bring to market in the near future.
One of the bigger projects that we embarked on during 2019 was the development of a small, but very focussed range of bikes ( frame-kits actually ) that we are excited to bring to market as our take on in their respective bike categories.
First up is our Gravel Monster Cross option ( originally named the GMX, now the OUT – as in FARR OUT … ) which we think is what today’s more offroad-focussed Gravel riders are looking for and wanting!
It’s like your 1994 Mountain Bike … just alot better! Like alot better! Featuring a host of updates that include thru-axles front and rear, Boost spacing ( yes, front + rear ), disc brakes of course, and modern 1x drivetrain ready. It allows proper MTB tyre clearance ( recommended up to 2.25 with a 23mm internal rim width ) and has our take on gravel geometry with a taller head tube ( to keep you comfortable in the drops! ) and slacker angles than some of CX-inspired offerings we have seen …
Available as a Frame-Kit which starts at just $695 USD ( that is frame + cromo fork + headset + seat clamp + axles ) it is going to make for some very cool and fun builds we hope!!! Pre-Orders are open now — see the full details and more info here.
More about that special Cromo Fork … we developed this retro-inspired Oversize Unicrown fork to match the length ( Axle to Crown of 483mm ) of a 80 ~ 100mm travel suspension fork and with it’s Boost 110 x 15mm lower leg spacing will fit modern MTB wheels and related tyres. Complete with various mounting points for extra cages / bags etc if you want to do some bikepacking or touring. We think this fork should and could end up on other bikes too – so we are offering it as a separate item — full details here.
With the OUT model we have the Gravel / Adventure / Dirt Drop bike covered … but we also fancy some mountain biking and as such have been working on a Cromo 29er frame … named the A.T.B ( as in All Terrain Bike ) it is once again a retro-inspired model but with all those cool modern features we are now spoilt with!
Things like longer and slacker frame geometry, thru-axles, disc-brakes, dropper seatposts and something we really like … a sliding rear dropout ( Boost 148 of course ) to allow for adjustable wheelbase and rear center. Whether you’re headed out on that crazy bikepacking adventure you have been planning for years or wanting to hit that awesome rhythm section at the local pump track – this bike screams F U N!
With a double butted cromoly ( spelt chromoly at times , and also called steel ) tube set and a stealthy matte black finish, the mix of round tubing profiles gives the frame a purposeful look with old-school diamond frame aesthetics. We like to keep things simple!
Run it geared or single-speed ( another cool use of the sliding dropout ) and with or without a suspension fork ( 120 ~ 130mm travel recommended ) these are going to really blur the lines in terms of how and what you can do with the bike! With all these features and options we are offering this frame-kit ( frame + headset + seat clamp + rear axle ) at an unbelievable $ 495 USD as a special pre-order offer! Want one? don’t wait too long – order yours here.
During the development of the A.T.B we also worked with our friends at Kaiventure Bags and they came up with some very cool Kustom Bags for the frame – we’ll be offering them as add-on accessories once we have these frame-kits in stock.
We also have a few other “bike” projects in the works, but more on that in the next post … first frame-kits are due October and we plan to have some fun with a few custom builds of our own … who is going to be the first to add our Supa-Wide Drop Handlebars to an A.T.B build?
As always, thanks for the support and stay safe, stay healthy.
